Ok. So hey, this is my first blog entry on my blog. One thing that comes to mind at this time of year is the NBA basketball post season. In other words the playoffs. But I can't help but notice that the playoffs aren't just interesting because of battling teams to become the new champions. While watching a playoff game this season, I noticed that the court said something a little bit different. It appeared to say layoffs (Chris Paul was blocking the P in playoffs). It came to my attention then that this time of season can also be referred to as the layoffs. In the past, you have heard of several players leaving their team primarily because they lost in the playoffs. Take Shaq for example. 2004 was the supposed to be another Lakers championship, but when they lost in the finals, Shaq was devastated  and left the Lakers(ok not really being laid off, but you get the picture). A couple years ago Larry Brown was fired as head coach of the Pistons after losing to the spurs in the NBA finals in 2005. These are only a few examples in the past few years. Now, this year we already are seeing history repeat itself. With the Dallas Mavericks losing in the first round of the playoffs two years in a row (in 5 games this year) get rid of former coach of the year Avery Johnson. Also getting out in the first round in 5 games is the Phoenix Suns. Mike D'Antoni has also been laid off and signed with the New York Knicks (sound familiar). These two layoffs are only after the first round and you can probably bet after round two their will be more layoffs taking place, so be ready and watch for it in the 2008 NBA (p)layoffs.
